AS SOON AS YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO ENTER, GET YOUR ENTRY IN!

You must enter via this entry form before race day.  This gives us sufficient time and an indication of numbers to ensure we have the right facilities, staff and volunteers to look after all of our Challengers wonderfully well.

This entry process will also ensure we don’t have competitors simply turning up on the day and stretching our resources beyond capacity.

IN WHICH CLASS SHOULD I ENTER?

Whilst we don’t have any hard and fast rules about this because we have no desire to limit anyone, we do have recommendations based on the complexity of creating a particular type of boat.  So, here they are:

Model Boat - Wire Guided                    SEES Kit           recommended for        up to Year 9

                                                       Open                                               up to Year 9

Model Boat - Remote Control               SEES Kit                                           Year 8 and beyond

                                                       Open                                               Year 9 and beyond

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ‘OPEN’ CLASS AND ‘SEES KIT’ CLASS?

To make sure the competition is as fair as possible, we will now have 2 classes of event for each type of boat.  That way, if you have a kit, you will be competing against other teams who also have a kit. You won’t be competing against a boat that has, say, larger solar panels (always keeping within the specifications set out in the Rules, of course!) with its possibility of generating more power.

Just as we did last year, we will also have Junior and Senior sections to ensure teams competing against each other are of a comparable age.  Junior is classed as primary school age and Senior is classed as high school age.  And, just so you know, a Class must have a minimum of 6 teams competing, otherwise it will be run as an exhibition event, at the discretion of the Organisers.

So! If you have a SEES Kit and have used it as it is, you’re in the SEES Kit class.  If you have a SEES Kit and have made modifications by adding your own parts or substituting a different hull, etc, you’re in the Open class.  And if you’ve come up with your very own design, then you’re automatically in the Open class too.  Make sense?  Sure!
