The 2010 Kits are AvailableOur thanks for your patience regarding the availability of the Solar Boat Kits - they are now available, with further details on the 'Kits' page. The big change this year is new remote control technology that almost eliminates radio interferrence. It's very exciting as it means we can have a lot more fun on the water. Two races can run concurrently, while other teams can be practice their technique, or competive tuning. Converting an old boat to the new technology is a piece of cake adn should only take a few minutes, but this rule change must be enforced for every team so we can all focus on the fun and learning, not radio clashes. We are also pleased to confirm the enthusiastic support from Engineers Australia who will be available on the day for technical support and running repairs. | Item | Price inc GST | | 2010 Remote Solar Boat Complete Kit Includes 2010 entry fee voucher & Registered Remote Control Unit | $399.00 | | 2010 Registered Remote Control upgrade kit. In the early part of 2010, SEES took a short pause to re-asses its programs in light of recent economic changes. Some of our sponsors were unable to continue at their recent levels of sponsorship. Fortunately, our founding partnership with Penrith City Council has continued, making a reduced program possible for 2010. We are having our National Race Day this year at the Penrith Swimming Centre on Saturday, September 11th. The Solar Boat ChallengeThe Solar Boat Challenge is pretty much the best fun you can have mucking around with alternative energy! For school kids, it feels like you're getting out of school. For cubs, scouts, guides and venturers, for community groups, individuals, corporations and teams of every stripe, it's the best way to get hands on with solar panels in a fun, easy way. We've heard enough people, politicians and journalists talking about it - now it's time to actually do something! In 2010 the event is moving to Penrith Swimming Centre. the date is Saturday 11th September. This year we will run two different divisions - - Wire guided model boats (aimed at Primary schools)
- Remote control model boats (aimed at Secondary schools)
While we won't be running the Piloted Boat division because of the venue change. Sorry. We're currently restructuring our training program. While it's too early to say for sure, we anticipate running several workshops in Sydney during the year, most likely starting in August. Finally, we have the free newsletter, sent out month to month to notify all teams and competitors about all things Solar Boat Challenge. We often include imporant updates about the Challenge events that you don't want to miss out on, so don't forget to subscribe and keep your email addresses up to date. |
